We had a level 2 u/s done on tuesday because my little girl was growing behind schedual. It turns out she has markers for dwarfism and perhaps Down's(although they are telling me that this doenst look to be the issue). I am terrified. What I dont understand is that at our 19 week apt the baby measured PERFECT. Now all of a sudden at 23.5 weeks she is only measuring 21.5 weeks (in all areas) and then suddenly at 25 weeks her abdomen and head are fine but her legs and arms are measuring still...

I am 14 weeks pregnant with my second child, and he was found at 12.5 weeks to have an increased NT of 4mm. I had CVS and we have discovered that he does not have any of the trisomies. We expect the final chromosome karyotype in a week or two, and if we are clear there then we wait until week 18 for a fetal echocardiogram, where they will look for heart defects. After that, there is nothing more they can screen for.
We are most concerned about what they CAN'T find - ie. genetic defects....

I hope someone can help me - I'm crazy with worrying and waiting!! I had an ultrasound at 19 weeks and then a 4-D ultrasound with a specialist a few days later to follow up, and my baby girl has been diagnosed with bilateral ventriculomegaly. We also found echogenic foci in her heart, so an amnio was done along with some other tests. I don't think she has Downs, because they found no other markers (no nuchal folds, longer than average femur, etc.), but I don't know what to think about the...

Hi

I am sorry you are having 'problems'. I know exactly how you feel. It is terrifying to think that something may be wrong with your baby. I too had marker signs for Downs. I had a bivalent blood test which showed I was at a significantly increased risk for it. It was recommended I have an amnio, at 20 years old I had the risk of a 45 year old woman. While waiting for the results of the amnio I had an ultrasound which showed up with a couple of markers for downs. The...
