I live in TN is the states and have an 18 month old little boy. He was born by c-section. I am also pregnant again and will have to have a scheduled c section with this one. I wasn't so scared with my 1st child but I terrified to have my repeat c section this time around. Maybe it is because I have 9 months to think about the afterward pain. Well I am glad that there is going to be a board for support for moms who have to have c sections. They are quite painful and even harder to recover from. -Jen

My sister just had a c/section and she was out of bed the next day and walking without a stoop or anything. you wouldn't have thought she had just had one. The worst she had was her knickers rubbing on the scar. We bought her some new knickers and hew presto, no pain. What exactly is it about c/s that scares you most? Leigh 22, UK Precious Times

I've always have wondered why others needed theres! I needed one, because my pelivc bone was like this )_ ! This ) being my spine and this _ being my pelivc bone! There was no way for the baby to get out! It wasn't hard for me to deal with that much! This was my first operation ever! But I had A friend that told me that you have to get up four hours after the surgury. So I did and three days after...I was walking around the shopping mall and walmarts, and went out to dinner! Grantit I did sleep good that night! As of now I not pregnant but we are really trying! so hopfully I'll be a mommy again in 9 months. I was told that after each c/s it get's easier. So good luck! I guess everyone recovers differently. They had me up and walking about 10 hours after the surgery. And my doctor had discharged me the following day. After spending 10 weeks in the hospital before having the baby, we grabbed my bags and baby and ran like a bat out of hell!! We even stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home and had some McD's!! This was my last child, but I don't think that I would be scared to have another by c/s. Sure there were nights I was in bed crying from the pain, but it wasn't from my belly, it was from the milk drying put in my boobs!!! LOL Lisa

I had a c-section for my first daughter on May 11, 2000. I was induced on Monday night and finally on Wednesday my doc broke my water in which I went from 3cm to 4 cm in less than 30 min. I labored (thankfully with my epidural) till early Thursday morning when my daughters heartbeat had dropped. The doc decided to do a c-section as soon as she arrived at 7am. I didn't have any time to be scared for this section because within 35 minutes of knowing I was having a section my daughter was in the nursery being cleaned up. I was put completely under anestesia because the epidural didn't work on my left side. We found out that my daughters cord was holding her arms to her side and squeezing on her chest and wrapped twice around her left ankle. I also had a terrible recovery I walked around the morning after surgery and was in terrible amount of pain on my right side of my inscision. This pain lasted for 18 months. I also had bleeding that lasted for 15 months non stop. My doctor was going through a hard time and I believe she messed me up in some sense. She had me put on 5 birth control pills a day for 14 months. Now I am 7 months pregnant and going to have a schedualed c-section (but with another doctor) and like another person posted I am so scared of this time around. I think it is also because you have 9 months to think about the section. My doctor said he will not try a vbac on me because of the complications i had with my first daughter. I would like to talk to any one that has also had a repeat c-section and had fears going into it.

It is understandable you would be scared, any surgery is scary, especially when you are pregnant and you already have a high level of hormones rushing through your body to screw up your rational thought....LOL. I am glad you found your way here and I will see what I can do to find someone who has been through what you are facing.
